Forum for 4th District Illinois State Rep Candidates scheduled for February 21

4th District Illinois State Representative

The only local fight in the upcoming Primary on Chicago's near northwest side is for 4th District Illinois State Representative. And, the only known forum for the four candidates to face off is on Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m., Rowe Middle School, 1420 W. Augusta Blvd., produced by Our Urban Times

Kicking off the event will be the topic of State governance by Faisal Kahn, head of Project Six and former Chicago City Council's Legislative Inspector General (IG). Focusing on the importance of legislators valuing and fighting for oversight in State government, Kahn will address how to make sure that proper ethics rules and laws should be followed in Springfield.

Candidates Iris J. Millan, Alyx S. Pattison, Delia C. Ramirez and Anne Shaw will be asked pre-determined questions from CGNA (Chicago Grand Neighborhood Association), EVA (East Village Association), UVNA (Ukrainian Village Neighborhood Association), WTNA (West Town Neighbors Association) and Indivisible West Town. Questioning will then be opened to the audience.

The evening is being made possible with cooperation and participation of CAN TV, who will be videoing the event, and Northwestern Settlement who is hosting.

Like so many other voting districts, the 4th State Rep district covers part of three of the 77 Chicago community areas: West Town, Humboldt Park and Logan Square, cutting through many different neighborhoods.

This State seat has been held by Cynthia Soto since 2001. She is not running in this race. In the last run for this seat in 2016, Noble Square resident Bob Zwolinski was her adversary. He was assaulted by the incumbent's daughter.
